Fragments of Fairytales

Welcome to the world of Janet and Jay O’Rourke. We have been collaborating for over 45 years. Whimsical fairies, Flower Birds, Mythical Mermaids, and other fanciful imagery, drawn in elaborate patterns and textures, is the hallmark of Janet O’Rourke Designs. Janet’s pencils, paintbrushes and carving tools are her magic wands. Jay’s lathe and carving tools are his magic. Together they create unique, one-of-a-kind work.

Eco Murals

My compositions emphasize endangered species, ecosystem relationships, and cultural reflection to encourage action to protect the world we love. I paint dynamic landscapes which attract the public to get close and discover details, while also experiencing a sense of connection to the action depicted, a signature style of my painting. I have dedicated myself to community engagement, mentoring youth and collaborating with emerging artists using a community-based process of making public murals locally and internationally since 2005.

Eleanor Soleil

I am a trans artist who has been working in the Eugene area since 2015. I make paintings that range from small, intimate portraits to enveloping murals. My work is characterized by mesmerizing colors, potent symbols, expressive figuration, and dreamlike composition. I like making paintings about queer joy that scratch the itch in my heart for beauty, meaning, and survivance. You can connect with me on Instagram @efsoleil.

Demetra Kalams

Watercolor painting has been my main medium for 30 years. I began to paint with oils at the beginning of the pandemic when a friend gave me all her oil paints, canvases, and brushes! I fell in love with how the paint moves along the canvas and the richness of color. Sensuality and expression are important on the canvas and I want others to feel it too when they look at my work. My work has appeared on book and CD covers. Find me on Facebook at Demetra Kalams, Artist.

Deanna Strachan-Wilson Art, LLC

I am a watercolor artist and live in Eugene with my husband and two cats. I am easily moved by people and situations around me. I use watercolor to express my emotions by creating intentionally, loose portraits that represent strength, courage, and resiliency. Momentum comes from each piece created. My goal is to do something artistic as often as possible, keep the energy and ideas going, and learn, share, and grow with my art community.

Charly Swing is a creative instigator, culture producer, and social sculptor. She founded ArtCity upon her return to Eugene from New York where she earned her MFA and wrote a manifesto for the importance of art and artists, by theorizing the activation of quantum mechanics and the infinite potential to elevate the collective human experience through creativity. Artist Rick Lowe, the Creative Time organization, community, and the imminent challenges of our times inspire Charly’s work.
