The Bijou Arts Cinema was interested in moving into a downtown location, but with a limited budget needed to find a partner to make this dream a reality. Steve Master, of Master Equity and Tim Weiskind, both owners of the First National Taphouse, assisted the Bijou Metro from the first stages of design to planning and construction. They helped build out the auditoriums, and provided the resources necessary for the Bijou to take on a project of this scope. Joe Lewis of the Bijou says “They’ve been there every step of the way, and their experience has been invaluable.” The space has been designed in such a way that patrons can enjoy both businesses; the Taphouse will act as an extension of the Bijou lobby so customers can patronize the Taphouse before and after screenings. The Bijou will benefit from the ability to offer additional food and drink from the Taphouse, without the necessity of a kitchen and additional staff.
Together, the Bijou Metro and the First National Taphouse operate on a new model of cooperation and creative partnership, that will draw patrons to the revitalized downtown area.
