The Fentress Award recognizes a local arts organization for exceptional work and achievement in the arts. Candidates are a vital part of the local arts ecosystem. This honor was established by Carroll D. and Harriet Fentress. The award is made possible by the Fentress Endowment of the Oregon Community Foundation.
Eligible candidates must:
- Be a local (greater Eugene area) arts organization, collective, or arts-focused business.
Nominators must complete an official nomination form based on the following criteria:
- Scope, quality, and originality of the nominee’s programming or involvement with arts.
- Impact on both arts and culture and the community.
- Program innovation
- Has created great awareness and significantly improved the community with measurable results.

For more than eighty-five years, the University of Oregon’s Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art has been dedicated to providing high-quality arts exhibitions and education for our growing community. As the only accredited academic art museum between Portland and San Francisco, the JSMA offers expansive community education programs: Art Heals, Art Inspires, and Art Teaches. Fulfilling our mission as a teaching museum, the JSMA serves more than 9,000 UO students who come to the museum for classes, research projects, internships, employment, and other learning and career opportunities. Each year, more than 60,000 visitors visit the museum.
