John Barry

John Barry, Executive Director

John Barry is Executive Director of the Arts and Business Alliance of Eugene. Previously he was Senior Vice President of Global Government Affairs and Public Policy at Visa Inc. and Senior Economic Advisor to the U.S. House of Representatives’ Majority Leader. A native of Dayton, Ohio, John earned his B.A. in economics and government from the University of Notre Dame and his Ph.D. in economics from George Mason University. In addition to his role with ABAE, John serves as Vice President of the Coburg Community Charter School Board of Directors. John and his wife, Sylvia, live in Eugene with their two children and he enjoys spending time in the great Oregon outdoors particularly fly fishing, camping, and hiking.

Irene Alltucker

Irene Alltucker, President

Irene Alltucker is the director of real estate for Obie Companies. She has been involved in visual and performing arts since moving to Eugene in 1989. Notable activities include founding Executive Director of Oregon Festival of American Music, establishing First Friday Art Walk with Fred Crafts, and working as Executive Director of the Relief Nursery. Irene has been active in the community having served as a past member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Oregon Community Foundation Silva Endowment. She currently serves on the Oregon Community Foundation Arts for Western Oregon Advisory Committee.

Dana Turell

Dana Turell, Vice President

As president of Turell Group, Dana Turell brings to ABAE more than 20 years of marketing experience, well-honed instincts and an unending passion for making a difference. In addition to being on the board of ABAE, Dana is board chair of Oregon Cancer Foundation, a board member of Travel Lane County and Angel Hair Foundation and a leaders forum member of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Lane County.

Dee Etzwiler

Dee Etzwiler, Secretary

Dee Etzwiler is a commercial artist and Principal of her firm, a+a Studio, where she designs custom artwork for commercial and residential clients. Dee earned a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon and has designed custom houses, consulted on planning studies for the State Capitol, and has taught architecture design studios at the University of Oregon. Dee is an award-winning artist who received the Mayor’s Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award at the 2011 Eugene Mayor’s Art Show. Dee is a past board member of The John G. Shedd Institute for the Arts and a past board President of the Eugene Education Foundation.

Kari Westlund

Kari Westlund, Treasurer

Kari began as President and CEO of Travel Lane County in 1996. She is a past chair of the Oregon Tourism Commission, past president of both the Oregon and Western Associations of Convention &Visitors Bureaus, and past president of the Oregon Track Club. She has three decades of hospitality industry experience, including hotels, restaurants, tours, museums, retail and destination marketing.Kari currently chairs the statewide Tourism & Hospitality Consortium, and is active on several local committees, including the Cultural Services Advisory Committee for the City of Eugene, the Lane Economic Committee, the Florence Events Center Committee and the Oregon Covered Bridge Festival planning committee.

Renee Grube

Renee Grube, Past President

Renee Grube is the Executive Director of the City of Eugene Library, Recreation and Cultural Services Department. As the department’s Executive Director, Renee leads the City’s cultural services activities, including the operation of the Hult Center for the Performing Arts and Cuthbert Amphitheater, the Eugene Public Library, and the city’s recreation activities, including the operation of six community centers, three public swimming pools and multiple community and cultural facilities. Renee is involved with a variety of community boards and steering committees including Travel Lane County Board, Travel Lane County Sports Commission, and the TrackTown USA Steering Committee.

Mitra Chester

Mitra Chester, Board Member

Mitra Chester is the owner of Deluxe local, resale and vintage clothing boutique at 1331 Willamette in Eugene, Oregon. She is a clothing, jewelry and accessory designer and co-producer of Eugene Fashion Week, an event intended to promote local apparel designers and network them and other local businesses with the Eugene community.

Fred Crafts

Fred Crafts, Board Member

Fred Crafts—the City of Eugene’s Ambassador for the Arts—has an extensive arts background. As a journalist, he covered the arts as the Fine Arts Editor of the Los Angeles Times, an anchorman at the CBS Radio Network owned-and-operated KNX Newsradio in Los Angeles, and Arts Editor of the Eugene Register-Guard. As an artist, he founded Radio Redux, a heritage radio theater company. He can often be found emceeing arts events and giving arts speeches.

Alan Evans

Alan Evans, Board Member

Alan is the Founder/President of Evans, Elder, Brown & Seubert Commercial Real Estate, the largest firm by market share in the metro area. He has previously served as President of Eugene Opera, Chair of the Arts Foundation of Western Oregon and vice chair of the Oreegon Bach Festival. He presently serves on the Board of Directors of Summit Bank.

Alex Haugland

Alex Haugland, Board Member

Alex Haugland is an active patron of the arts and has been committed to providing philanthropy throughout the community.  He also serves on the board for the Haugland Family Foundation, focused on serving the arts, education, and social wellbeing of Lane County and beyond, and on the board of the Richard P. Haugland Foundation, focused on education, healthcare and child welfare overseas.  He is also a past president of the Eugene Concert Choir board, as well as having served on the board for Planned Parenthood of Southwestern Oregon.  Aside from philanthropic activities, he is involved in real estate development and property management, with properties all around the state.

Richard Lubben

Richard Lubben, Board Member

Richard Lubben is the Dean of the Arts Division at Lane Community College. He holds a Masters in Fine Arts in painting and drawing, a BA in studio arts, and an AA in liberal arts. He has held academic positions in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada and the United States. In 2013 Richard was awarded a Fulbright Visiting Research Chair in Human Rights and Social Justice at the University of Ottawa, and has served on the College Art Association’s (CAA) Task Force on Advocacy, and Chair of the CAA Education Committee.

Scott Pratt

Scott Pratt, Board Member

As executive vice provost for academic affairs, Scott Pratt’s work is focused on defining and implementing high-priority academic initiatives for the University of Oregon. Prior to joining OPAA in 2017, Scott had been vice provost and dean of the graduate school since 2015. Over his 20-year career at the university, Scott has held many roles, including associate dean of the humanities; director of graduate studies and director of undergraduate studies in the philosophy department; and department head. His research and teaching interests are in American philosophy (including pragmatism, America feminism, philosophies of race, and Native American philosophy), philosophy of education, and the history of logic. He has published seven books including American Philosophy from Wounded Knee the Present (Bloomsbury, 2015), a comprehensive history of philosophy in North America from 1890.

Brittany Quick-Warner

Brittany Quick-Warner, Board Member

Brittany Quick-Warner is President and CEO of the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce, the region’s pre-eminent business support and advocacy organization with over 1,200 members. Brittany has worked for the Eugene Chamber for nearly five years, having served previously as the organization’s director of business advocacy. A native of Missouri, Brittany moved to Eugene in 2012. She holds two degrees from the University of Missouri, a master’s degree in public administration with a focus in nonprofit management and an undergraduate degree in soil, environmental and atmospheric science. She has been active in the community since her arrival, serving as a board member of BRING Recycling, Better Eugene Springfield Transportation, the Junior League of Eugene and the Eugene Sustainability Commission.

Jane Scheidecker

Jane Scheidecker, Board Member

Jane Scheidecker has hoed sugar beets in Montana and provided entrepreneurship and tax advice in Siberia. After three decades of fundraising and administration including a decade as Director of the Business Development Center at Lane Community College, she left the work world to continue her harp lessons and metalsmithing. She has served on the Sister City Committee and Foundation, the Riverfront Research Park Committee, and the Rotary Peace Committee, among others. Jeremy Schropp

Jeremy Schropp, Board Member

Jeremy Schropp is a music composer, conductor, and performer who combines traditional acoustic elements with emerging technologies and compositional practice. During his career, Jeremy has presented compositional work internationally and collaborated with numerous contemporary musical artists, including RJD2, Quixotic, Odjbox, Beats Antique, Medium Troy and Troyboi. He is co-founder of Harmonic Laboratory, a collective of artists, thinkers, educators, and innovators who together investigate the human experience through the integration of media and common theme. Jeremy also serves as the conductor and arranger for the Bohemian Dub Orchestra, a collaborative classical ensemble based out of Eugene and as Chairman of the Board for the non-profit organization, Integrated Arts. Jeremy received his PhD in Music Composition and Theory and Masters in Intermedia Music Technology from the University of Oregon.

Jon Texter

Jon Texter, Board Member

Jon Texter is the President of Essex General Construction, a commercial general contractor, headquartered in Eugene, and working throughout Western Oregon and Southwest Washington. Essex develops partnerships as strong and sturdy as the buildings they construct. Jon – a ceramic artist, and Essex, have been long-time supporters of the arts in Eugene. This includes partnerships with The Very Little Theatre, The Shedd Institute, The Eugene Ballet, Orchestra Next, Lane Arts Council, OSLP’s Arts & Culture Program and local musicians, amongst many others. When he’s not leading Essex or creating and supporting the arts, Jon enjoys sailing and traveling the world.
